30 october '01 || Updates on moving the website | post connix
So far, I am not really certain what is going on with this. Connix, aka BiznissOnline dumps all its customers on short notice. I have been getting old connix.com e-mail redirected to either a new mindspring address or directcly to rondak.org. That the spam mail still arrives in disturbing frequency tells me that the dirty wheels of mail-order commerce are still oiled efficiently.
I have made direct transfers ot pages into a new directory structure set up from rondak.org, but have not made an effort to change components to most of the pages, such as jpg, gif and other graphic files. The older pages, while now housed on rondak.org's server still link to connix files for the images, even some of the linked pages. SO that part has been smooth so far. However, I have no idea how long that grace period shall be.
One interesting quirk is that I find I am still able to upload changes on to the old connix/bizniss online server to change pages, but I can't expect that grace period to last forever. Therefore, I continue to re-write a whole passel of pages and links to stuff. As the site took a couple of years to develop, I'm sure I may miss some old earlier pages, but I hope to move everything intact.
The archives have been moved to rondak.org's server but the are also still up at the connix.com urls. Can't say how long that will last however I still plan on doing a custom 404 for each of the old connix pages, but have no idea how long this kind of effort will be honored. So please bookmark the change now. Thanks.

new east haddam highlights | update and beginning of new section
the the
With the move from one ISP to another, and with the imperative to keep things looking fresh and snappy online, I have begun a redesign of the East Haddam, Connecticut section of the site. Eventually I would like to spin off other things from this, but for the moment, this will be the opening of the new section as moved to rondak.org. the Mind you, I know that a number of new sites that promote or emphasize my home town have been developed over the past couple of years since I put my own pages up, but I just can't resist a challenge. the
On the other hand, many of the privileged in this country, still feel entitled to steal from the rest of us so that they might be able to have caviar and armed guards to their gated estates; estates paid for by the sweat of labor both in the USA and abroad. Greed still rules.
The spiked level of public giving to charities is encouraging, but skepticism about an equitable distrbution of the relief dollars would certainly be justified. After all, with all the literally billions of dollars in supposed aid pouring in to coffers, questions about who manages such wealth and how it gets distributed to those acutally in need remain not only unanswered, but also unasked!
Surely no one can sincerely tell me that the now unemployed illegal Haitian WTC janitorial crewmember will have the same chance to get some dollars to pay for her kid's education, medical needs or even food has the same chance that some stock trader's Park Avenue triplex-housed widow for collected cash. Not on a bet.
And while I continue to maintain that nothing can justify the massacre of 6,000 people in one fell (make that two) swoops of dive-bomber harakiri religious fanatics.
But the slower murder of the poor in this very country by the privileged isn't justifiable either.
God ain't on either side, folks. We just gotta pray for the best in the future, for all of us.

Anyways, as noted at the top of the page, over the coming months, will brady's journal shall be moving to a section of the rondak.org website. Be cautioned, however, there are no actual direct URL links between rondak.org and the personal journal pages. So just click on to the following link, and, once there, bookmark the page for your ability to return. That URL is: will's blog pages

Out fer now!     ~Will Brady

about "Short Notes"
"Short Notes" was the title of a column I wrote while working for a newspaper in the Adirondack Mountains some years ago. The format was similar to what you'll find here, except augmented with pictures and maps. The subject matter shall sometimes be personal, at other times comments on events or situations of which I am aware. Comments, suggestions welcomed but not always acted upon.
