rights of disabled persons
There exists the perception, however inaccurate, that people with disabilities are unable to live full, colorful, independent lives.
People who are missing limbs, or who lack a sensory tool (such as hearing or sight), or who perceive social reality in dramtically different manners may sometimes have to adapt how they do things or interact with other but this does not imply that "the disabled" automatically need special care or assistance.
It is when one has been left without the tools to become educated, or who have been discriminated against because of his or her "disability" that such individuals become incapable. Indeed, they would be as as incapable as anyone else denied the opportunity to do what they wish in life.
Until such perceptions (mass social delusions, actually) are dispelled, there is a need to guarantee that people with disabilities are ensured the right to accomplish the same as everyone else.
